Force Falls

Today's the day ......................... to catch a salmon

Took Rob out for lunch today and then went to Force Falls on the River Kent, south of Kendal, to see if the salmon were leaping.

And they certainly were! We spent quite a while watching them in amazement as they threw themselves right out of the water in an attempt to climb up the impossibly high, sheer rock face. Don't they know that just to one side of the falls there is a purpose-built fish pass which would make it much easier for them to continue upstream to get to wherever they are trying to go?

We didn't see any fish at all going up the fish pass. They do obviously make it upstream of the falls - so they must just all be incredibly good leapers. Makes you think though - being a salmon is quite hard work ....................
