Severe Flood

Today's the day ....................... to be warned

Ok - that's enough now - it's all getting a bit scary.

We're used to rain round here.  We're on the west side of the UK - and it's why we have all our beautiful lakes.  But it's gone on too long now and it really has been heavy - falling on to ground already saturated to the limit.

There are at present 499 Environment Agency Flood Warnings for the Northwest ranging from severe  down to a simple Flood Alert.  This is in the severe category and it's for an area just down the road from us.  The important word in the last sentence is 'down' - because that can make all the difference in the world when it comes to a flood situation.

Our local news and radio is full of reports of the havoc and devastation already being wreaked on several parts of Cumbria.  My heart goes out to those affected.

Just as well they're made of strong stuff - the people round here ..........................
