Nuthatch

Today's the day .......................... to get caught in the act

With a name like 'nuthatch', you would think that the preferred food of these striking little birds, would always be - nuts?

Having spent a fair amount of time getting to know them and watching them feed, I can tell you that given the choice of fatballs stuffed with seeds - or peanuts?  There's no contest - it's the fatballs every time.  They just have to clear off any other pesky bird that gets in the way first -  which is no problem with that long sharp beak and that unmistakable nuthatch attitude to life.
