Hand me a vase please Mono Monday

Ok that was lame.
I collect hands, figural hands. I have them made from wood, china, pottery, soap, paper, fabric, metal, just about everything you can imagine. Well, not cantaloupe but just about everything else.
I was given a hand holding a fan about 35 years ago. holy crap am I old in my early 20s. And........A collection was born. At one time I probably had 50 or so. I have pared them down at times only to buy more. I probably have a dozen now.

At one time I collected all sorts of pottery and fans and hands, ugh. I look back and think my motto was "he who dies with the most crap wins".
Well I got rid of just about everything. 1600 square feet of stuff. I was owned by my stuff. ( as opposed to now where I seen to be owned by my fitbit)
Oh how the mighty have fallen.
I did keep some of my figural hands. Most are vases. Some are very inexpensive. Some were very expensive. Price was not the point. It was how they felt and looked. ( that seems to be my motto in many areas of my life)

I wonder when I changed and decided to no longer be defined by my things. Probably I have just changed to different things.

I now surround myself with friends, and family, music and photography. New stuff. More important stuff. More importantly life, not still life.

On another note, I have been entertaining quotes for house painting.
Now I have to pick colors. ( read fighting with my dark side here) I remember this guy I used to work with many many years ago. He got mad at the town and painted his house white with purple polka dots. It was an enormous old beach cottage in Ocean Park Maine.
I will not do that. purple with white polka dots maybe...... . I am leaning towards sage green with linen trim and a burgundy door and window frames.
This is actually linked to my Facebook and my dad is reading this as we speak. So I won't scare him.
I have another quote coming tomorrow. This may be a long summer......maybe I'll spread some rumors around the neighborhood about colors that I want to paint the house......oh come on... A girl has to have some fun!!!
