into the mountains

An very early this morning (6 am)! Escaping from Athens towards the village of my friend for the weekend. It took us 5 hours and it seemed like we were in a different world. Clean air and beautiful views of the mountains. We were fortunate that we took the 4x4 jeep with us since at some places close to the village the road has just a just dusting of snow on top of ice.

Five hours later we were at the village and setting the fire in the wood stove to warm up the house. A small lunch was has with some village sausages (that we bought on the way) on the barbeque and a bottle of local wine and after a bit of rest we were off to the local for some tsipouro, a great dinner and some more tsipouro followed by rakomelo.

A great day indeed!
