Vienna

It was my fourth trip to Vienna. I arrived late on Thursday and spent the whole of yesterday working in our office, doing end-of-appraisal-year reports amongst other things. Had a delicious and typically Austrian lunch with my colleagues, across the road from the Embassy which was nice - I don't often get the chance, given that I'm always in and out within a morning or an afternoon. I planned the visit so that I could then catch up with a couple of Kiwi friends afterwards who lived in Warsaw for a short while before being transferred to Vienna. They hadn't long returned from NZ, having been home for Christmas and to get married - they're from the Christchurch area too, but all f&f accounted for...

They couldn't live in a more central location if they tried. Just a couple of quiet, narrow, cobbled streets away from Stephansdom. A very cute top-floor flat, in the roof of an old building with plenty of character - complete with a balcony looking out over the roof-tops of Vienna. Pizza and wine for dinner last night - in an off-the-beaten-track restaurant, just a short hop, skip and a jump from their front door!

Today was glorious - though you wouldn't know it from the photo I've chosen! The sky was as blue as blue can be and it was pleasantly cold as we walked around the city, and back through the Museum Quarter for a mooch - the location of today's blip. I've settled for a b&w bench shot, over a whole host of architectural offerings. A very photogenic city, is Wien. Lovely to see it properly for once!
