H2 is playing at blipping

The day lies open before us

So, yesterday I caught a swift iPhone pic of the evening sun as I trundled and trotted from one thing to the next. This morning I thought to put my camera in the car before I drove to Durham to do some work.

I can't tell you how much I would have loved to have stopped on the A1 to attempt to capture some of the stunning sunrise shots I took in my head...it really was lovely. There was one perfectly framed image of wrapped bales on the skyline, with the morning light streaming pinkly (?) over it and casting some wonderful shadows. Unfortunately I was driving up the centre lane at the time so decided to focus on not getting squished by the lorries on either side of me rather than pulling to an abrupt halt and grabbing Nik. Probably just as well. The image I would have taken would have been unlikely to have done the scene justice.

So I waited until I was safely parked up in front of St Mary's College and then took a few shots of the cathedral in the 8am mistiness. Doubtless some of you know better, but I think this is a Tibetan cherry tree - I thought the red bark was deliciously rich and made a passable frame.

Quite nice larger.
