Pyrenees 8 Aneto

Another early start for the ascent of Aneto, highest mountain in the Pyrenees (3404m). This is looking across the glacier from the crampons-putting-on spot to the mountain, though the summit is hidden behind. You get to the first top (in the picture here - you can see tiny ant-people going up to it) then it's crampons off, ropes on for the scramble to the main summit - simple enough but very exposed.
Enjoy the view and the sense of achievement, then down again. I was at the end of the rope so I had to lead going down (always considering the short legs of Alice further back on the rope).
Back by a different route with some fun sliding on the snow, a snooze by a stream, and back to the refuge where there was a helicopter with a paramedic but we never found out whether it was a rescue or an exercise.
