must try harder

Goodbye Ireland

We leave behind us our 'home' for the last 4 days, our apartment in the Downshire Arms, Hilltown, the appropriatey named Wee Binnian - appropriate as I had of course spent some time up in the mountains taking shots - one of which of course I blipped yesterday. - hoping some will be worthy.

Wee Binnian is a little stump of a hill that sits in the shadow of its bigger neighbour, Slieve Binnian. It is an outcrop of granite that juts out of the southern slope of Slieve Binnian, and the Mourne Wall dutifully runs over it on its way to/from Slieve Binnian. The mountain wall, well that's another story!

We make our way home and drop off to fill the hire car with petrol to avoid the 125Euro penalty for not doing so, only to have my debit card declined at the pay station!?
"There's some mistake" says I..."...try it again."
'***DECLINED***' says the ticket, reversed white out of a black box.
Unmistakeable. Hugely embarrassed. All for just 30Euro. Determined to prove them wrong, I am scuppered when both cash machines in the services are out of order. Panic sets in. I pay by another card and spend the remainder of the journey home in a cold sweat. My card must have been cloned! Someone's emptied my bank account. I haven't spent that money??? - I keep telling myself.

"No reason we will have done this Sir" says the bank..."Your account is in order - you will need to speak to the merchant".. 400 miles away over the Irish sea....I think not! Still, at least my ID hasn't been compromised. Be positive!

Grateful to my daughter for making me smile on my return who sent me this link to Cheap Flights which describes experiences of flying to Ireland far better than I could! Enjoy!
