Neighborhood Bloom

On my walk this morning, I discovered this beautiful blooming prickly pear cactus.

It's the first blooming cactus I have seen this spring...to see so many flowers on one cactus at once totally shocked me!

I have some small cacti in my backyard with dozens of buds, but none ready to bloom. [Actually, I did get one flower yesterday but I missed it and it's shriveling today. The lifespan of a prickly pear flower isn't very long.]

I'm glad I remembered to bring my camera. I've been forgetting it lately and missing some opportunities for some great blips. I got lucky this morning.
