Spent today wandering the South Bank, checking out the Turbine Hall of Tate Modern, and sitting in the National Theatre. The matinee was 'Women of Troy' which was extraordinary: one of the most powerful experiences I've had in a theatre. Katie Mitchell is a genius. And in the evening it was Much Ado about Nothing, which was delightful. I've no idea why Simon Russell Beale isn't a household name, but he's one of the best stage actors in the world. I'll never forget any of his performances I've seen.
