Sap Rising
This winter's snow and ice broke several of the birch trees in our garden. The trunk of this one split and jacknifed: I cleared away most of the debris by mid-March, but this is the top of a long stump that I didn't manage to trim back before the sap started rising.
I wonder how much liquid has already poured out the top of this one.
Still, the exudate makes a fine blip.
This easily makes up for our disappointment with the fancy 'dribbling' candle back in January.
