Roadtrip Day 6: Drive to Franz Joseph

Finally some nicer weather!

Heading south again. Stopped in Hokitika for lunch and stroll on the beach to enjoy our first sunshine in days. Then on again, south to Franz Joseph. When we got there we stopped at the i-site and booked tomorrow's adventure and then we setup camp at a great little remote DOC site just a bit north of the town.

Campground Review for Wingpig: DOC Ottos/MacDonalds on Lake Mapourika
Recommended. Great SMALL campground right on a nice peaceful lake. No facilities other than longdrop toilet (water is not drinkable), but sweet location and easily accessible to Franz Joseph. If you need something a bit more "comfortable" there is a top 10 just a bit down the road and a few holiday parks in Franz Joseph town.
