Roadtrip Day 7: Franz Joseph Glacier

Weather was wet but it didn't matter it's always raining on the glacier anyway. We partook in the full day, $140, guided tour. It was an 8 hour day with approx. 6 hours on the ice. I've seen glaciers before but this was quite an experience. Our guide spent the entire day hacking steps and tracks through the ice and we trekked across all kinds of crazy ice terrain. At our highest point we found an amazing ice cave (pictured). Fun, awe-inspiring, wet, cold, and tiring day. My feet looked like they were decomposing after 8 hours of wet. Needed a hot shower so bad but no facilities. Met some nice young travelers from Seattle at our campsite that night. Good times.
