Karmann Ghia Baby!!
How exciting for Mr G, after months of it being at the restoration man he has finally got his KG back (not me, the Karmann Ghia)
There is a bit of a sad story story behind the KG so I would like to dedicate this Blip to James Crabb (JC).
JC asked us to have the KG on our drive as he didnt want it on the street outside his house. About two weeks later we were in Tintagel on holiday when we heard news that JC was in hospital with serious head injuries from a fall, he sadly died 2 weeks later. He had come home from the pub, tripped over and knocked himself out. I cannot tell you what a gorgeous, gentle guy he was. Everyone who knew him was knocked side ways by his untimely death, he wasnt even 35 years old. His funeral was a beautiful tribute to this wonderful man, who nobody could find a bad word to say about. There wasnt even standing room left in the church as so many people wanted to say their goodbyes.
A few weeks later his mom contacted Si to see if he wanted to buy the KG as she knew Si loved it as much as JC did. She wanted it to go to someone who would treasure it like her son had. So, we bought it.
It was originally a bright yellow colour, but we, or should I say, I chose this gorgeous cream colour. The inside has all been reupholstered too. It really is a beautiful car and I am sure we will get lots of miles out of it. Popping to the shops on a Sunday afternoon will be a pleasure!
RIP Mr Crabb, I know you will be looking down on your beautiful car and be so proud what Si has done with it. We are taking it to show your mum x x x
