The Bump

I'm going to be an Aunty!

This beautiful creature is one of my oldest friends, Raine, with her 8 month 'bump' - also known as 'The Passenger'. We don't know if it's a boy or a girl yet so please excuse my calling it, well, 'it'!.

It was wonderful to spend the day with her - we don't see nearly as much of each other as we should do (considering we're only an hour apart on the train, it's disgraceful) but when we're together again it's as if no time has passed at all.

It seemed almost surreal for me when she announced she was pregnant because I always thought that (next to me) she was the one of us least likely to have children - she really is the original free spirit and I couldn't quite picture kids fitting into her wandering ways. But seeing her today blew all that away, she totally suits being pregnant and I don't think having a child will change her in the least, she'll just make it work without any fuss because thats how she is. She's always been so full of fabulous ideas and enthusiasm, theres no changing that.
And no doubt the next time she disappears to Africa on a whim in a dodgy old jeep, she'll just take another 'passenger' with her! :)

Although the plan now is some sort of woodland venture that she's going to create and live in with her (very lovely) artist boyfriend. She'll do it too, nothing is too hard or daunting for R she simply decides she wants to do something and does it, I really admire that.
