Fun in the Sun // Self Portrait With Baby
I was going to create a montage out of some of the pictures from today, but this will be my abiding memory - cuddles with Zeki :) I am SO looking forward to having another little one in our life!
The rest are here in my blipfolio - well worth a look for a giggle at what Ben and Ede got up to!
NB I am working my way through all the hello's from Wednesday at a snail's pace I'm afraid! Every chance I get I say thanks to a few more blippers - I have been a bit overwhelmed by all the congratulations and lovely messages for the blipday celebration!
Diabetic Antenatal clinic this morning. One and a half hours waiting - appointment was 10am, was seen at 11.30am - and 20 minutes or so being seen. BP 95/58 I think, down on last time but apparently that's normal at this stage of pregnancy. Also, depending who you talk to I'm either 14 weeks exactly, 14+1 or 14+2. All going from the same LMP date. I'll go for whatever gives me the later due date - if I'm to be induced (1 week early) (which I'm praying I won't need to be) I want baby to be as cooked as possible and body to be as ready as possible. I don't want a repeat of last time.
It's always fun explaining to a new consultant the ins and outs of my particular strain of diabetes. The "it's not type 1 and it's not type 2 and Exeter never sent my results back so we're not entirely sure which type of Mody it is either but we're making a good guess" explanation.
And I was cheeky and asked if we could try to hear baby's heartbeat but although it was showing on the doppler screen it just wasn't strong enough to be heard. So we got a quick scan out of it!! Evidently it pays to be cheeky (in the nicest possible way)!
After the clinic daddy dropped us home and it was a quick change of clothes to cope with the ever increasing heat of the day and off to see Christina and Ede and Zeki.
Ben and Ede have played together SO BEAUTIFULLY. They chatter away and we could understand just enough to make out snippets of the most bonkers conversations. They had lunch, and then stripped down to pants and nappy and painted outside. Ede won the "most covered in paint" competition although Christina (with a lot of help from Ede) came a close second. Ben didn't even bother with hands but stepped right into the spirit of the thing and created a catpaintwalk. He didn't want me to miss out on the fun so he painted both my hands and one of my feet.
Eventually they had enough of painting especially when they spotted Chris filling the paddling pool. What better way to clean all that body paint off than in a freezing paddling pool? Well, the boys both thought it was the best thing ever!! And of course what is the best thing to do once you're soaking wet? Go and play in the sandpit! Sandy bottoms, sandy tummies, sandy arms and hands, sandy faces, sandy hair - you name it it was sandy. And while the boys were playing with Christina I sat in the shade and had the bestest cuddles with Zeki :)
After several repetitions of pool / sand / pool we realised the heat was going out of the day so we rinsed the boys off as best we could (Ben loved being sprayed with the hosepipe!) and took them inside for a proper bath. Suitably de-sanded they had some tea and Steve arrived to pick me and Ben up and eventually, after Ben took the length of Finding Nemo to eat his dinner, we took off home via the takeaway.
Ben has eaten melon today. And chicken nuggets. Neither of which he's been keen on before! Because Ede was eating them ;) And Ede has worn his sunhat because Ben was wearing his, and Ben wanted to take all his clothes off to paint because Ede had! They have been a brilliantly funny pair copying each other today :)
That reminds me. A little note to remind myself of the sort of things Ben's been eating this week. Wednesday he had a whole packet of sliced ham and a whole snack bag of grapes for his lunch (and some of my moussey dessert thing). Thursday it was hash browns for lunch, and cooked ham for tea. And today it's been whatever Ede's been eating and between the two of them copying each other they've eaten anything!
Once home, Ben chilled out for a few minutes playing games on my phone before bed and then fell asleep almost instantly.
And Steve's gone out.
And I've just had a magnum icecream :)
Better put some aftersun on my shoulders though.... they're just the teeniest tiniest quite a lot of a bit red... oops!
