The bear went over the mountain....
....to see what he could see.
Day 2
So we woke up relatively early and set off to hike to our next site at the top of the mountain. We hike mostly up mountain for over 3 hours, I think like 6 or 7 miles. We encountered some pretty interesting people and mostly discussed campsites and where we were all coming from. The views were incredible; Big Bend is home to so many different terrains, maybe even ecosystems. We survived off of cliff and luna bars, peanut butter, bread, almonds, tangelos, and trail mix. I really didn't mind and never really tired of these foods, for they totally provided the energy we needed to conquer that mountain. Our second campsite was on top of the mountain, and right outside of the site, were breathtaking views, vast mountain ranges. We rested, stretched, ate, and envisioned interesting things on that mountain. We then set out to a different part of the mountain ( the southeast rim), where the views were amazing and looked like they could have been taken on the moon. We were amazed and a single soul was no where near to disturb our awe. On the way down we ran into only 1 person and were on our way to make it back to our campsite before sunset. I think we hiked around 12 miles on this day. We had a few blisters... That night, we thought we heard things walking around outside our tent, but then decided it must have just been the wind...yeah, the wind! It was so windy at night on the top of that mountain, my cold was confirmed in the morning. More to read on the next day.
