Un giro al mercato!
A stroll around the market!
I love going around markets!
Markets are colourful, lively, inspirational! In every town i visit, if i can, i try to go at the local market, places where local people go and where you can see a spot of "true life" of the town!
For example when i go to England i love markets (especially farmers ones) where i see vegetables we don't have here in Italy, or that are very rare to find, like parsnips, swedes, sweet potatoes...and others! ...my mind starts thinking and virtually creating delicious dishes and recipes! :-)
Of course i love as well Venice's market, in Rialto, lively...full of local people and curious tourists as well!
I love the colours you can enjoy there...and every season has its own colours, a "painting" created by the different fruit and vegs available!
So ...as i'm enjoying my new discovery and game...making collages with pictures....today i took some shots of the market and i made this composed blip! I loved the bright red of the sundried tomatoes in the basket and you can still see around (i guess not for so long) the red/purple of the "fiore d'inverno" (winter's flower) ...il Radicchio Rosso Tardivo di Treviso.
It's a delicious local type of chicory/salad, typical of this area and of the winter season, about to end now...and that will let me starve for it till next year!
You can read more info about the special way it's grown and and idea of the many possible recipes on the link!
You find it on my pic near the broccoli and on the little image, top left!
