Zygaenidae
Met this guy on the cycle path near the beach. Though in appearance he looks very much like a moth, I was uncertain to begin with because he didn't flutter like a moth does. He flew with the concentrated whirring energy of a bee.
However, Wikipedia claims they have a 'slow fluttering flight'...
Within the wonderfully named Zygaenidae family, it looks like he's either a Six-spot Burnet or a Slender Burnet. Not sure I can tell the difference.

All the Zygaenidae contain hydrogen cyanide. Quite hardcore for little moths.
