Blockade

The North (or outer) Breakwater at Goodwick was built in 1906, linked tenuously to the mainland at Pen-Cw Point. These huge concrete blocks were evidently added some years later, presumably to offer additional protection from rough seas. The dates hand-written into the wet concrete are all from 1916 and 1917, suggesting that they may have been originally cast for some war-related purpose before finding a further use, and resting place, here. This shot shows the north side of the breakwater looking towards the lighthouse and beyond to Mynydd Dinas.
