Music

Second day of the music festival with groups from Greece as well as the Greek speaking areas of southern Italy (encardia, mala kingua, ghetonia). Here, Giovanni Avantaggiato with his wife (in the front) and his son, daughter and a friend (in the back). I felt very privileged to listen to their music both yesterday and today (maybe tomorrow as well :-).

This music, sang in the griko dialect (where greek and italian are mixed) has a wonderful raw power, full of feeling and history.

[UPDATE] Thanx for your comments it has been a fabulous weekend, three concerts (one per day) of this music along with talks about the area of Salento (south Italy) and movies.
