Heading home

Two hours up the road from the Phoenix/Scottsdale area, we were greeted by this sight as we approached Flagstaff, Arizona. Flag is one of my favorite cities. Two years ago, we had a family reunion in Arizona. One of the places we visited was the Arizona Snow Bowl, just outside Flagstaff. We took a ski lift ride to the top of the second highest mountain pictured here. For someone who doesn't like heights, I think I was very brave to get in that swinging lift chair! The climate in Flagstaff is very different from the climate in Scottsdale, and the cooler air is a relief on very hot days. Flagstaff is also the home of the Lowell Observatory where you can see so many stars that it is quite amazing.
