Kerikeri Stone Store

This is the iconic picture of Kerikeri, the Stone Store built just over 170 years ago and the oldest remaining stone European building in New Zealand. It lies on our route into town, the road passing within a few feet of the door, but only for 2 more weeks as a new heritage bypass is opening, which will take all the traffic away from the historic area.
To the right of the building is the first mission house and to its right a one lane bridge, which is good for traffic calming but creates traffic tailbacks around the area. This bridge is to be demolished soon and replaced with a new pedestrian bridge.
We will then only have to negotiate two one lane bridges between Rangitane and the town centre !
