The long journey

La mia Italia

So, I'm ready. I hope the team is ready too otherwise it will be bad.

First match of Euro 2008 for Italy this evening against the Netherlands (good luck Steph) and I am so excited. I love football (well, watching it since I am rubbish at the actual thing) and I am supporting my home country, which hopefully will make me proud. Having said that, after the world cup we have been pretty rubbish. What usually happens with the team (which is the same thing that happened two years ago) is that we think that nobody will beat us (wrong) and we relax up to the point where it gets to life or death....We made it in 2006, but I still think we should not underestimate our opponents as usual (especially considering the group we are in) and start strong.....but especially enjoy some sane competition!

By the way...what a great weather today. I was risking getting sunburn at lunchtime in the garden. I am not complaining though: the sun makes everything beautiful!

Forza Azzurri!

"Che bella cosa na jurnata 'e sole,
n'aria serena doppo na tempesta!
Pe' ll'aria fresca pare già na festa...
Che bella cosa na jurnata 'e sole.

(What a wonderful thing a sunny day
The serene air after a thunderstorm
The fresh air, and a party is already going on?
What a wonderful thing a sunny day.)"
