Türkiye... wow.

Another night of intense celebration, this time in Kreuzberg instead of Prenzlauer Berg...

and it was after the craziest game of football I've ever seen in my life.

I can't believe they did it again. After stunning the Czech Republic last week by erasing a 2-0 deficit in the last 15 minutes of regulation, Turkey managed a miracle. Croatia scored in the last minute of the 2nd overtime period after a 0-0 tie in regulation, only to have Turkey snatch it away at the very, very last second and then outshoot the Croats 3-1 in penalty kicks.

Absolutely insane.

And now Wednesday night will be unfathomably loud, because Germany and Turkey are playing each other in the semifinals. There's a very significant Turkish population in Berlin and western Germany because of guest worker programs set up during the "Wirtschaftswunder" during the 60's and 70's.
