Leap-the-Dips
Built in 1902 and now a National Historic Monument, this is the world's oldest known operating roller coaster. It was one of the sites we visited on Saturday when we returned to my husband's hometown of Altoona, Pennsylvania. Our grandchildren got to ride this roller coaster, visit the world famous Horseshoe Curve where they watched several trains negotiate the curve, and also see the temporary site of the memorial to the heroes of United Airlines Flight 93 that crashed on 9/11/2001 near Somerset, Pennsylvania. Saturday was a very busy day for our whole family. I'm not sure if I have recovered yet!
