Attempt of Mt. Rae

Today I went scrambling with my friends Aaron (bicycle helmet) and Brandon (skateboard helmet).
(I wore my old windsurfing helmet :)

This 3218m high peak presented several problems. First, we were relatively unequipped for the large amount of snow (no axes), secondly we had no experience on snow or glacier, and lastly we took a wrong turn that led to an impassible cornice. It was already getting late by the time we discovered the correct route, so we decided to descend and try another day.

This was Brandon's first time scrambling and he performed quite impressively. A peak like this was unfathomable for me when I first started scrambling.

Aaron and I both have attempted this mountain at different times.
Several years ago Aaron's girlfriend got freaked out half way up due to a serious injury in a different hiking party (what actually should have been a certain fatality, the guy was terribly lucky).
My 'attempt' doesn't really count because I got lost and climbed entirely the wrong mountain altogether last summer. :)

Today was supposed to be the day we would reach the top, but there are always surprises. We all learned so much, and saw amazing views of the surrounding ranges.
