"A tribute to British learner drivers?"
Saturday
This was actually my husbands comment, when we saw this sculpture this afternoon at Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park in Hamilton, Ohio, just north of Cincinnati. To those not in the know, British learner drivers have a red L-plate on the back of the car. The Park now has over 60 sculptures spread over about 260 acres, up on a hill overlooking the Great Miami river valley. It's a beautiful setting of woodlands and meadows, with seven small lakes, a couple of them with fountains, and today was especially magnificent, in glorious sunshine, with the leaves a riot of color. There is a network of roads throughout the park, so you can see much of the park from your car, but the best thing is to get out and walk - you get a much better appreciation. We actually hadnt been in quite a while (other than at Christmas to see the amazing light display they have), and they've developed it quite a lot, building a huge pavilion, which can be rented for special occasions, and an indoor museum, which will hold ancient sculptures, built in a very classical style around a courtyard, with shrubs and flowers and a fountain in the center. We took a picnic lunch with us and had a wonderful afternoon, enjoying the sunshine, nature and art.
This morning I had been at church, for our 'Coffee and Conversation' group which meets once a month, where, after coffee and "goodies" and socializing, we usually have a speaker. This mornings speaker was from the Comfort Foundation which works with orphanages in Russia.
