End of the Journey
OK well after yesterdays blip I got up there this afternoon. Strange feeling really its very quiet up there encircled by a stone wall and sheep grazing around the fields. The crows were flying around not very happy with me I think. Cows and their calves were making plenty of noise as well in the lower fields.
The chambers are interesting to see, the views from that spot are great and I assume had some significance for placing the burial chambers in that particular area.
The fascination for this place has a bit of history for me as its relevant to how I got into landscape photography. When I was nursing I had a period of time that was quite stressful, deciding to take some time out. I walked miles upon miles taking photographs and always feeling an attraction to the aesthetic of Minninglow.
I discovered this photographer and this image, I knew then that was what I wanted to to do. Years later when at University I was sat in his kitchen discussing my printing (tutorial) landscape ideas and how I hadn't yet got round to actually photographing the interior but had delayed it.
There was nothing anti-climatic about it just a nice feeling to finally see something for my own eyes. So now you have seen with my eyes what I have delayed doing.
here are the chambers and a view looking away that I haven't seen from that viewpoint before.
So there you go 20 years of my life and some of its relevance in a short way how I got involved in photography tied up in a single image.
