Up Helly lets go to the pub

I was pleased with my pictures and came rushing home to post only to find that blip was down. argh.

We had a visit from the Jarl's Squad and it really brightened up our weekend. They burned a boat which turned out to be rather minature but nevertheless there is someting about a procession of men, all roaring, marching about and carrying burning fence posts which is genuinely entertaining. You really knew it was silly and preposterous but there is something quite primordial about fire in the darkness. They had however spent the majority of the afternoon in the pub which added a certain unpredictability to the whole thing.
