elsewhere: this news made my heart sink. the herald group is owned by newsquest, in turn owned by us giant gannett, and despite the herald making double-digit millions of profit it has been slashed to the bone over the past 2-3 years. now they've all been fired and have to reapply for their jobs. these are good people trying hard to do a good job and do not deserve this.
