Mi castle, su castle

Pain free journey to Ireland. As a very nervous flier, a bump-free, funny-noise-free flight is critical to my enjoyment of any holiday. And today's wasn't bad at all.

We were staying in Ballyhannon Castle, a self-catering castle near Shannon. Pretty cool, huh? Actually, more than cool. Freezing. Castles, it seems, were not first in the queue for cavity wall insulation. And central heating was not de rigeur in the 15th century. Luckily the medieval electric blankets were still working, so bedtime was cosy, and before that we just focussed on warming ourselves up from the inside with plenty of red wine and whisky. Vague memories are coming back to me too of chinese food at some point.

We're here for the 40th of a good friend (Mr B's best man) who I keep trying to lure onto blip. He's a great photographer and not so bad with words either, so I think he'd fit right in. One day, when he's not pulling two jobs, I'll persuade him.

This is just about the only shot I took today - there was lots of catching up to be done.
