BREAKING NEWS!!

Zambian Airways Suspends all Operations from Saturday 10 January 2009.
This is the horrible news we had to read this morning before breakfast!

We were on our way to South Africa for business, booked and PAID for the tickets to the value of $1,800.00, on Friday 9 January. They were, according to the newspaper, aware of the suspension on Thursday 8 January already, but still sold us the tickets and took the money for it the next day! Do you call this THEFT, or what?

As angry as we are, we realise that there are people in a worse position now, because they are stranded somewhere and children must be back for school that reopen this week, and for work as their holidays are over, etc.

Hundreds of people were stranded at the Lusaka, Livingstone, Ndola and Johannesburg Airports since yesterday (Sunday 11 January 2009), their paid tickets to local and international destinations worth nothing!

This is quite a blow to Zambian Tourism and the local people who made use of this mode of travel to go to SA to buy stock for their little stalls in town.

The only other Airline in operation at the moment is an affiliate of the SAA and is much more expensive and they use quite small aeroplanes and will not have the capacity to meet the demand!

Oh my goodness, what a start to the week!
