One Up and One Down

We have extremely strong winds here today, gusting at around 85kph, now updated to over 100kph, and the trunks of mature pines are visibly swaying. I had to sit down on the gravel to take the photo!

Unfortunately the mast on our original wind turbine, which was sited a couple of metres higher up than the other, couldn't cope, which is a shame as Steve had just got the electronics side of it working as he wanted.

As you can see, the top of the mast has bent and so the whole thing had to be lowered down to save further damage. The top section of the mast is now going to be made as short as possible. The only thing Steve was pleased about was that his welding had remained intact!

Strange though that the second wind turbine looks as though it's standing still, when it's actually whizzing round at a tremendous rate and we keep looking to check that it's not bending too!
