Shy's Friday Swan.

This is one of the kids stretching his (or her) wings.
It's amazing to think that they were cute little swanlings less than nine months ago. Tragically out of the five cygnets, only three are left as the fox got the second one over the Christmas holidays.

I really like the markings on the youngsters, the remaining brown feathers contrast with the new white ones marvellously - almost like gold braid on a dress uniform. I wonder if they will lose all these brown ones on their first birthday. We shall have to see.
