Hidden treasure

It is sunny and beautiful outside!

A good section of the yard is no longer covered by snow, so I strolled around, investigating and wondering which of the perennials from last year will survive and which will not.

The little youngling magnolia tree is covered with these soft, fuzzy capsules that appeared last fall and by the end of April, will burst open and unfurl their fragrant, creamy petals.

It's the first time I'll witness this miracle in my own yard, as this tree was newly planted last Spring, after it flowered.
