Nils Ludvig Arppe

Firstly, I would like to thank everyone who commented on my yesterday's blip. The response was nothing short of overwhelming.

After blipping and talking about his achievements, I thought it was only fair to blip Mr. Nils Ludwig Arppe (1803-1861) himself. So here he is - well, a bust, anyway. He was quite the entrepreneur - in addition to building the first steamer in Finland he owned several sawmills and iron works around Finland, and of course he's to thank for the larches in yesterday's blip. The middle school in Kitee is named after him.
