Glorious architecture
This is the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption in Covington Kentucky (just across the Ohio River from Cincinnati), where Laura's choir the Choraliers, and the Chamber Singers were performing this afternoon. The construction of the cathedral began in 1894 and ended in 1915, incomplete, according to the initial design. The interior is modeled after the Abbey church of St. Denis in Paris. It has a great number of beautiful stained glass windows, manufactured in Munich, Germany. The fourteen stations of the cross are also noteworthy, done in mosaic art. It was recently restored and refurbished about 8 years ago. It had been snowing on and off throughout the morning while we were at church, fortunately not heavily, but I was afraid it might put people off going, but it was actually pretty full, which was nice to see.
I have back-blipped Friday.
