The End of the Line
in more ways than one. This is about one mile from the track's end and the string of unused auto rack cars goes all the way to the end. These cars are about 40 miles from access to the main line so their likelihood of use in the near future is low a signal of the problems with our economy. The second point is that they block several industrial sidings meaning that the RR has no hope of future business on the line and probably will abandon it soon. These tracks are the former Lehigh Valley RR main line from Jersey City NJ to Niagara Falls NY a RR that half vanished with Conrail. This is in the town of Victor NY that was served by 2 rail lines, the LV and the Auburn branch of the New York Central, and it appears will soon be served by none.
