Blip Rut
I feel like I am in a bit of a blip rut these days. Don't get me wrong, I continue to enjoy photogaphy and blipping, but am struggling to find things to shoot. My feeling is that this is partially due to the monochrome nature of the world around me, and partially due to a lack of time to for blipping. However, I continue to work through it and am confident that I will continue to find interesting and appealing things to shoot.
I drove around quite a bit today looking for things to shoot and felt a bit unhappy with the majority of the shots. In the end, I like this shot and chose it because of the interesting texture of the plant and the reflections of the trees.
I purposefully shot this with a small aperture to increase the depth of field and keep the shadows distinct. When shooting, I also tried a version with a very shallow depth of field to isolate the the plant. If you are interested in the shallow DoF version, you can find it here. On a side note, this is why dSLRs are so great; it is very difficult, if not impossible, to create a really shallow DoF with a Point and Shoot camera.
No Photoshopping here, just basic saturation, contrast and white balance.
Constructive criticism always welcome.
