Aberdeen Harbour

We had a pleasant enough trip up to Aberdeen. We left a lot later than we had planned but then that always seems to be the way it goes.

Despite being really cloudy in Queensferry, so much so that you couldn't see the Rail Bridge from the Road Bridge, the weather cleared up as we drove through Fife. Since it was still mid afternoon at that point we decided to go up the coast road for the views instead of the more direct route. Unfortunately as soon as we got past Broughty Ferry the Har appeared again meaning we couldn't see much further than 20 metres from the road the rest of the way up.

Anyway with a leisurely drive we got to our hotel at about six pm and headed straight for the pool. we had a long swim then decided to get organised tro head into town for some dinner. We went straight for a place we'd been recommended only to find they stopped serving food around six. Still it was worth heading there to get this shot on th ewalk between Market street and the car park.

We eventually opted for tea from the Ashvale Chip shop which has won awards in the past but somehow didn't live up to my childhood memories.

As for the hotel, we'd got a cheap deal at the Treetops Hilton, very cheap as it turns out, the room we were in should apparebtly have been £230 per night. I have to say while it was pleasant enough if I'd paid the full price I would have been feeleng pretty ripped-off. I can only assume they have a pretty captive market up there with all the Oil Conferences and such like.
