Pendle Hill

No 2 son Ciaran chose today's outing. A walk up Pendle Hill. Some people believe it to be the highest point in Lancashire but it's not. At 1831ft it doesn't even qualify for mountain status but it is a grand hill to climb for the views. It is easily accessible but the hill plateau covers some 8sq miles of moorland and can be a dangerous place in the mist. No fear of that today. Most people know of Pendle Hill thru its association with the infamous Pendle witches Mother Malkin, Alice Nutter and Old Demdykes but it is also famous for the place where George Fox founder of the Quaker movement had his vision in 1652.

Met a family on top of the hill who where hoplessly lost following a printed route from a newspaper that didn't even send them up the hill! I put them on the right route down. Probably saved the husband's marriage as well.
