A Blip on the Reidar

Walls come tumbling down...

I saw about ten minutes of a TV programme yesterday called Demolition. I had belittled the whole idea of a fly on the wall series based around demolition crews and figured that perhaps a one hour documentary about it would be a better format. Still the little I did see I actually enjoyed, annoyingly, and it brought back memories of seeing Fred Dibnah on TV blowing things up.

So this afternoon on the way to the shops I heard the booming noise of demolition going on and hurried to see where it was. A row of housing has been stood empty for a while near our home and I had figured that this would be their eventual fate but was still unbelieving about that as the council had paid to put new windows into the houses only about a year ago. Sure enough though they where tearing them down. Much to my annoyance though I got there as the lazy demolition crew decided to knock off for the day and all with just two sections of the housing to finish off. You know why that is though don't you. Tomorrow being Friday, by the time they get to the site, read a paper, eat a bacon roll or two, then smash down the rest of the building it'll be time to knock off early cos its the weekend...
