Snail Flail
Last year my vegetable crop was mutilated by an unknown being. Its levels of depravity included decaptitating the heads of newborn runner beans just fresh from seed, gnawing at juicy green courgette stems and sucking the life from pumpkin plants. But it was unseen in its nocturnal actions.
This year I built a fence around the plot, with a gate. And netting over the 'roof'. No toothed mammal could get in.
Yesterday, three runner bean plants chose life and embarked on the upward journey beyond the sanctuary of the soil.
Last night, the being returned and pounced.
This morning war was declared.
