Recycling Day or Moving House
Yesterday I saw a house up on blocks in an empty corn field. It was a house in transition, I knew for sure because it hadn't been there the day before. So today I drove past to get a picture of it, because it was something you don't see every day. Apparently the field was only a temporary resting spot while the new location was being prepared, because today it was moved again, just down the road from where it was. I wonder if the owners are having trouble deciding on a location - perhaps it will be moved again tomorrow, this could make for a good blip series: House Chasers
Isn't it amazing how that tiny little bobcat could move such a heavy house? Must be a Smart bobcat , like my blip yesterday. Recycling is such a SMART thing to do and recycling a house is probably the ultimate carbon footprint reducer. Wonder what these folks paid to have this house moved.
Oh, I nearly forgot to mention that the insert is taken from one of the timbers holding the house up. I wonder who actually weighs an entire house to be sure it isn't over-weight...I was once told by a moving company that I have a 'fat house.' It traumatized me.
PS: The moving company was there to estimate the weight of my belongings, not my house. I've never moved an actual structure before.
PSS: Isn't there a British phrase, "moving house" when speaking of moving to another house?
...what a ramble...
