English village in a buttercup meadow

Welcome my new friends from the USA, Texas Life and Mudane/Dramatic/Daily. Just for you two fans of lovely old buildings here is a traditional English scene.

This is Binsey village. Oxford has several little villages like this within the city boundaries. The reason they have survived is that Oxford University colleges own a lot of land in the city and have prevented development.

Binsey is an ancient village with lots of history and links to Oxford people. I'm sure I'll feature it again -- this is one of my regular routes when I'm pottering about on my bicycle.
