Pope's Head Alley

There are lots of alleys, ginnels and snickets in York, so many infact, that there is a guide book to them; 'The Snickleways of York'. It's handwritten and illustrated with drawings and sketches (the author based the style on Wainwright's guides to the lakes). It's pretty decent as an alternative guide to York (especially if you're sick to death of the Dungeons and the Minster etc.). You do have to engage your imagination a little more though! The cool names of the snickelways help: 'Black Horse Passage', 'Mad Alice Lane' anyone?!

I imagine there will be a few more snickelway based blips.

Start the new job tomorrow... first day in work for over a year. Feeling a bit nervous but not too bad. I just want to get on with it, the anticipation is always worse!
