Signs of the Times
Not a pretty sight, I know, but rather a common one right now. This was a brand new development started with very high hopes but only one house has sold and now building has stopped. Vacant lots nearby hold silent machines and dormant equipment.
Like most people, part of me is glad that growth has slowed down. Growth in this area takes from the forest and the wetlands and encrouches on animal habitat. Another part of me is sad for and worried about all of the families struggling to survive after losing jobs and incomes directly involved with the building trades. When I was very very young I saw the world in black and white - right and wrong, and life was alot easier. As i got older I became more and more aware of all the shades of gray there are and that made it hard to be overly judgemental about things. Now that I am very, very old (just kidding - I feel young) I think it is only fair that I should have all of the answers, but instead I have just come up with way more questions!
