Peebles-discovery 2,386: SOLUBLE INHABITANTS. Unlike the backs of the ducks puttering hither and yon in the Tweed the simple cotton raiments of the human occupants of Peebles are insufficient to protect them from the drippy onslaught; they must apparently run for cover at the slightest sign of rain in case their water-absorbing vestments are insufficient to protect them and they are washed away Berwickwards in steadily weakening solution. Even the children left their bicycles in the middle of the pavement to dash for the comfort of the impermeable safety of the baker's doorway. Perhaps they had only dressed for the gusty winds of yesterday and this morning, not suspecting that the heavy grey clouds carried into the valley might be sufficiently compressed by the windward peaks to precipitate and fall. Considering that at least four of the town's odd collection of shops sell wet-weather gear it's odd that none of the locals were wearing any. Perhaps they're confused which shops are for the tourists and which are for anybody.

Now that it's stopped raining I plan to try a little experiment later involving my camera, a tripod, the remote control, the garden to the rear of the cottage, some lettuce and carrots and some of the large amount of rabbits bobbing around. It would be easier to use a tele lens but I haven't acquired one yet and so have to employ more complex techniques just to get a shot which I don't need as I have already Chosen the Blip and was thinking about maybe taking a wander over to the Hydro to test the existence of the fabled Wireless Hotspot. Then again I don't recall a particularly large amount of rabbit-pictures in my collection and I have to start somewhere. The smattering on the side of Arthur's Seat are usually only encountered in unsuitable lighting in the morning and evening whereas those out of the window ar exceptionally large, close and tame.

Perhaps after photographing a rabbit I could adapt the equipment to trap it then do the same trick to photograph one of the audible but invisible owls....
